The
Director
A key role, the director has the vision for his team's film
and has the final say on all things artistic - from actors'
performances to camera angles. |
 |
The
Producer
The producer is the team's executive officer - he or she manages
the whole operation and ensures everyone is aware of what
is required of them. Key responsibilities also include bringing
the shoot in on time and within budget. |
 |
Camera
Operator
A vital role, responsible for shooting the film. The camera
op decides on camera angles, the lighting of each scene
and the care and safety of the camera. (most cameramen sleep
with their cameras).
|
 |
Sound
Technician
Works closely with the camera operator to make sure the sound
is recorded properly. Operates the boom when needed. Always
has an ear open for any extraneous noises such as passing
aircraft. |
 |
The
PA/Runner
The producer's right hand and stalwart of the shoot, the PA
marshals the film crew, marks all the shots with the clapper
board, keeps a detailed log of the scenes recorded and cues
the actors. |
 |
Scriptwriter
As the title suggests, the writer is responsible for developing
the original creative pitch, the storyline and the actors'
dialogue. They see themselves as an exploited, under appreciated
bunch of creatives with unique talent.
|
 |
Art Director / Make Up
Responsible for the props and costumes - begs, borrows, steals or fabricates any property needed for the shoot. Also responsible for the titles and credits. |
 |
The
Actors
Scratch the surface and you'll find a luvvy in one of your
colleagues - the talent, of course a vital element of any
film. Who knows, you might have a budding Pierce Brosnan or
Kate Winslet in your team? |
